Dog Breed Info

The Lakeland Terrier is self-confident, smart, friendly and affectionate. The “Lakies”, as many people call them, were bred to hunt and kill foxes. His small body has the capacity of getting into places that foxes use as hideouts.

The “Lakies” gets along well with children and with other dogs, but he is very cautious with strangers. Like all terriers, the “Lakies”, tend to chase small animals; therefore, you should get him to socialize at early puppyhood with cats and other small animals.

The “Lakies” are independent and funny dogs who wish to be treated like any other member of the family. This breed generally reacts positively to obedience training if his owner is patient and has a good sense of humor.

He loves to please his master, but he can also take over a leading role. The “Lakies” are hard to find. You will need lots of patience and time to adopt one of them.
