The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog is calm, affectionate with his family, peaceful and intelligent. He can be a little reserved with strangers, for that reason you should have him socialize with other animals and people right from puppyhood. Some of them can be aggressive with other dogs of the same sex.

They tend to mature slowly, taking up to 3 years to complete its growth from puppy to adult. He is a large dog with strong healthy bones and an incredible physical strength. This breed needs moderate exercise; however, you should take him out to walk everyday and you may keep him in a relatively small patio.
